A Whale of a Lot of Whales!

The next morning began with our first first wet landing in Hanus Bay to hike to Lake Eva. There were bear tracks along the trail and some of us saw a bear salmon fishing beneath a cascade. After lunch we went out on deck to look for whales. And did we find them! There was a pod of 18 whales in the Chatham Strait, using a technique called bubble netting to collectively catch fish by forming a circle and blowing air to form a cylindrical wall of bubbles to trap schools of herring.
