March 25 Vancouver Gardens

The University of British Columbia Horticultural Garden sits at the edge of the Pacific, divided by the road along the coast. One the sea side, a grove of trees, and on the land side, a rock garden. Although the flora are tagged, its arrangement is informal. Back in the city center, we visited the Van Dusen Garden, converted from a golf course. It is a delightful combination of a show garden like Butchart and a horticultural one like the UBC, we had just visited. Afterward, we inched our way out of town along Canada 1 with an awful lot of others from Vancouver.
