On our first night on the Serengeti we were first escorted to our rooms. “For your safety.” we were told. We took this to be a bit of atmospherics and wondered if the sounds we heard that evening came from some loudspeakers on the grounds. The next morning trees were torn down and pots were broken by a herd of elephants, who also left some souvenirs on the lawn outside our rooms. On the last morning there was another visit and we were told to remain in our rooms until the bad boys left.
