        With lions, you got the feeling that they know the drill. Walk slowly across the grass until a pride of vans congregate. Approach the shade tree, lie down, and be photographed. One wonders if there is a set fee, say, one gnu per van.

        In one instance, a lion approached the van and tried to cross the road, but one of them pulled in front of him. After a moments pause, he walked past our van—close enough for Helen to touch. She decided not to pet the kitty. The encounter is shown in the video below (Firefox, only).
