The Great Migration
The Great Migration begins on the Serengeti Plain at the end of January. Over a million gnus and hundreds of thousands of zebras, Thomson’s gazelles, and elands migrate from Tanzania to the Masai Mara reserve in southern Kenya, a round trip of 500 km (300 mi). It is one of the largest movements of wildlife on earth. Interestingly, this event began in the 1960’s.
