Piazza Amerina
The mosaics at the site of a Roman villa provided a contrast to those that we saw in the Norman cathedrals in Monreale and Cefalu. The colors of the profane figures are subdued in comparison to the sacred images in the church.
Secular mosaics
The picture of this mosaic is a combination of six images, one is shown below.(It’s a mosaic of a mosiac!) The resulting perspective was then removed by distorting the panoramic image to provide a view from above.
