Whales!

Much of the whale watching we have done can be wearying at times. It helps if you go to where the whales are instead of trying to catch a glimpse of them from a convenient location. On the Sea Bird we gained an appreciation of the abundance of sea life in the Sea of Cortez. After a single sighting early in the day, many more sightings were made. Then a cow and her calf approached coming close to the boat putting on quite a show.

Later, after another morning of whale watching we went below for lunch. Helen sat with her back to the window and Donald sat opposite her. In the course of the lunch, Donald saw over Helen’s shoulder a large humpback whale breach about 25 yards from boat. He figures that he will never that close to a whale again.

A whale of a time!
